SAPL services during COVID-19

The Downtown Library and Jensen Lakes Library are open

In-person services at both library locations include inside holds pickup, browsing, public computer access, printing and copying, staff help, and limited seating. We are excited to welcome you back!

  • Jensen Lakes Library open hours: Tuesday to Friday 12 PM - 6 PM; Saturday 10 AM - 5 PM; closed Sunday & Monday.
  • Curbside Pickup service continues at Jensen Lakes Library - you may pick up your holds inside the Library or use Curbside Pickup service for contact-free pickup.

Public safety precautions are in effect at both Library locations

Face coverings are mandatory at SAPL.

Face coverings refer to any medical or non-medical mask or other covering that fully covers the nose, mouth and chin. Find the Alberta Health Services definition of face coverings here.

Masks must keep the nose, mouth and chin covered at all times. Fit is important. A well-fitting mask should:

  • be large enough to completely and comfortably cover the nose, mouth and chin without gaps;
  • fit securely to the head with ties or ear loops;
  • be comfortable and not require frequent adjustments;
  • maintain its shape after washing and drying.

If you are unable to wear a face covering, SAPL offers library services that do not require entering the building:

  • designate someone to pick up holds for you or use Curbside Pickup service at Jensen Lakes Library;
  • access the eLibrary and online programs;
  • get Information Desk service by phone at 780-459-1682 or 780-544-0444 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.;
  • access Outreach pop-up libraries and programs from May to August;
  • use Library Wi-Fi from outside the building.

More safety precautions at SAPL

  • For the safety of all, patrons are asked to apply hand sanitizer regularly while browsing Library collections;
  • High touchpoints are identified and have hand sanitizer at them; patrons browse high touchpoint areas at their discretion;
  • Limited entry: 60 patrons are allowed in the Downtown Library at one time and 15 patrons are allowed in Jensen Lakes Library at one time;
  • Patrons are asked to limit their visit during busy times;
  • Computer use is limited to 60 minutes per day per person;
  • Patrons will use self-checkout machines to sign out materials;
  • Library staff will provide support while maintaining the required physical distance;
  • Library staff follow the physical distancing and safety requirements and guidelines outlined in the Government of Alberta Relaunch Strategy.
