SAPL services during COVID-19

The Downtown and Jensen Lakes Library locations are currently closed but staff continue to offer remote services

St. Albert Public Library facilities are closed until further notice, in accordance with the Province of Alberta direction announced on December 8. The health of our patrons, staff and our community is always our top priority, and we support this step in reducing the community spread of COVID-19.

We are committed to ensuring your continued access to the Library collections, services and programs you need, during the temporary closure of our physical spaces.

We encourage you to check this page periodically, as we will keep it updated as circumstances change.

Online Programs

Online Library programs and events continue as planned. Check our calendar of events for the most up to date information.

eLibrary access is 24/7

  • You can continue to access the Library's digital resources 24/7. You can browse digital magazines, newspapers and comics, stream music, TV and movies, take an online course, listen to an eAudiobook or read an eBook.
  • Not sure how to navigate the eLibrary? We have a library of bite-sized tech talks to help you out.
  • Digital resources are free with your library card.

Curbside Pickup Service

Curbside Pickup service is available at the Downtown Library and Jensen Lakes Library.

What you need to know

  • Memberships due to expire during the closure will be extended for two months.
  • Do you need a Library card? Use our Contact Us form and select "I have a question regarding membership/ my account" - staff will help you set up a membership remotely.
  • Not sure when your library materials are due? Check your account online. Click here and scroll down to "registering your card to manage your account online."
  • You may continue to return your Library materials to either location using our 24 hour book returns. If materials are too large to return through book drops, please hold on to them until the Library reopens – we will make sure fines don’t accrue on those items.
  • We will share updates with you as soon as possible whenever library services and processes change.

Contacting the Library

  • Staff will respond to emails and phone messages during scheduled Library hours.
  • For questions about your membership, please use the Contact Us form and choose the "I have a question regarding Membership/My Account" option, or call 780-459-1530 and leave a message.
