Assistive Services

We want everyone to enjoy our resources and be able to use the Library space! We have tools and services that will make it easier for you.

Assistive technology computer station:

  • large print keyboard
  • adjustable monitor
  • height adjustable table
  • large trackball mouse
  • Zoomtext screen magnification software

Handheld magnifiers

Ask for one at the second floor Information Desk.

Hearing Loop

A hearing loop is available at the main floor Customer Service desk.

Large print books

These books are available to all patrons and have clear text with at least 13-point font.

CD audiobooks

We have over 4000 fiction and nonfiction titles available.

Playaways

These small audioplayers are preloaded with an entire audiobook - just add headphones and a AAA battery. 

Downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks

Read or listen from your computer or mobile device. You can change the font size of the eBooks, or adjust volume and narrating speed of eAudiobooks.

DAISY Talking Books and players

DAISY books (Digital Accessible Information System) contains the entire book on one disc. DAISY books play on a DAISY player, which also plays regular CD books and music CDs.

Any Library member with a print disability (learning, physical or visual) can access DAISY books. You can access DAISY books at the St. Albert Public Library, CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access) Library or NNELS (National Network for Equitable Library Services).

Home Library Service

Are you unable to visit the Library because of health or mobility issues? The Home Library Service is here to help. Trained volunteers will select, deliver and exchange materials on behalf of homebound readers.
