DISCOVER
In partnership with the St. Albert Public Library, DISCOVER provides free, online homework help, tutoring, and academic guidance to students in Grades 4 to 12 by connecting them to university student volunteers.
Along with free tutoring, DISCOVER offers post-secondary help and general mentorship from current university students.
How to Register: Visit mydiscoverprep.com. Under Book A Session, select your tutoring subject. Select Book Now and choose the timeslot and tutor that works best for you! Sessions run Monday to Friday 4-8 pm, MST. You will receive a confirmation email, including the link for the online session after completing the booking form.
Reading Buddies: Children in grades 2-4 who could benefit from a little support and guidance with their reading will be paired with a trained teen Reading Buddy volunteer to read together. The goal is to help the young buddy improve their confidence and develop a positive attitude toward reading.
For our winter 2025 program we are offering two in-person options:
- Tuesdays, February 17 - April 14, 4:00-5:00 pm (No class March 31)
- Wednesdays, February 18 - April 15, 6:30-7:30 pm (No class April 1)
The application process opens Monday, December 8 at 9 am. Applications will be closed at the end of day Jan 23, 2026
Now accepting applications for Reading BuddiesBookable Buddies: Come to the Jensen Lakes Library and read in a fun and encouraging environment with a friendly Reading Buddy! Bring your own book or choose one from our collection. For kids in grades 2-4 who could use a little support with their reading.
Choose from one of three 25 minute slots from 6 to 7:30 pm on Thursdays, from January 22 to March 19. Registration can be found on the Library's calendar.
