Interlibrary Loans

Can’t find what you’re looking for in our Library catalogue? We can get physical library items from libraries across Alberta!

Just find what you're looking for in TAL Online* and place your request (a valid St. Albert Public Library card is required).

If you can’t find the item you want in TAL Online, visit our Information Desk on the second floor or call us at 780-459-1682. We will do our best to find it elsewhere.

* TAL Online is a province-wide library catalogue made available by The Alberta Library, a consortium of 48 libraries in over 300 locations across the province.

We’ll look at your request, or we may buy the item if we think that other patrons would also want it in the collection. In either case, we will place a hold for you on the item, and contact you once it arrives.
No. This service is free at St. Albert Public Library.
You can request up to five items at one time.
Generally, it takes approximately two to six weeks for you to receive the item (occasionally it may take longer).
The lending library that we get the item from sets the loan period. Generally, it is three weeks. Please note: Interlibrary loans are not renewable!
You will be responsible for the replacement cost of the item plus an administrative fee. The lending library sets the cost, and it can be expensive.
Once we start the interlibrary loan process, it is difficult to stop it. If you will be away for an extended period of time (e.g. the next six weeks), we ask that you do not request an interlibrary loan.
